Silk is a natural protein fiber, some forms of which can be woven into textiles. The yarns produced from the process of sericulture are used to weave a variety of textiles. The fabric has a shimmering appearance, though has interrupting patterns of weave due to its natural fiber.
Natural silk comes from silk worms, while artificial silk is a synthetic material. Natural silk has a beautiful sheen to it. Real silk is made by cultivating silk worms that feed on mulberry leaves, artificial silk is made from cellulose fiber and mixture of materials like rayon. The impact which printing of pattern has on the fabric is a key difference between the two.
